What is the Difference Between WHM and cPanel?
What is the difference between WHM and cPanel? WHM is used by the reseller, and cPanel is used by the end user. The WHM panel helps manage all the various accounts, and the cPanel manages just one domain. The cPanel is typically used by the end user but can also be used by the reseller so that the reseller can help the customer if need be. Here are some tips for helping you navigate through WHM and cPanel.
The different steps
- First log into WHM.
- WHM is a resellers control panel. It is what resellers use to manage all the hosting accounts in their reseller plan.
- cPanel is the end users control panel. It's what is used by the reseller's customers to manage their individual hosting accounts.
- Take a look at what is offered in WHM since you are currently logged in.
- First, look at a list of hosting accounts in your reseller plan.
- Click the "Account Information" link.
- Then click the "List Accounts" link.
- You will then see a list of accounts in the WHM's reseller plan. Once again, each of these accounts will have their own individual cPanel and we can login to their cPanel by clicking their corresponding link.
- Go ahead and login to a cPanel for one of the domains.
- Do so by clicking the icon right next to the domain. One click and you will be able to enter their cPanel.
- Resellers have the ability to login to their customer's cPanel control panels without their username or password. This can be useful in helping customers understand on how to use their cPanel.
- You can now go ahead and go back to the main menu by clicking the Home button at the top of the main window. You now know how to get into a cPanel from the WHM.
