How to Use File Manager in Plesk

If you manage a website and are wondering how to manage files using your Plesk interface, it can be a little confusing unless you have done it before. Managing the files can help you create special directories to store specialized files in. A properly organized file structure can ensure that your website runs smoothly and that you can easily keep track of your site's vital assets.

The necessary steps

  1. Make sure you are logged in to your Plesk account
  2. To use the Plesk file manager, scroll down
  3. Click on the "File Management" icon
  4. From here, you can upload, delete, neame or change the position of files
  5. Scroll down
  6. Select the http docs folder
  7. Click on the "Folder Icon"
  8. Here you can see the files in your http folder
  9. Click on "Add New Directory"
  10. Enter the name of a new directory in the box provided
  11. Click on "OK"
  12. The subdirectory is created
  13. Go back to main directory
  14. To rename, click on "Rename"
  15. Enter a new name in the box
  16. Click "OK"
  17. Scroll down
  18. To delete, select the directory by clicking on the box to the left of it
  19. Click on "Remove Selected"
  20. Click "OK" to confirm
  21. It is deleted
  22. To upload a CGI file to CGi bin, click to move up to the parent directory
  23. Navigate to the CGI directory
  24. Click "New File" icon
  25. Locate file
  26. Click "OK" to upload
  27. To change permission, scroll down
  28. Click "Permissions"
  29. Select the appropriate box check marks
  30. Click "OK"
  31. To delete account, check the box next to the account
  32. Click "Remove Selected"
  33. Click "OK"
  34. Click on "Home" to return home
