How to Create Hosting Packages
So you're about to start a new project or your current site has run its course, either way you will need to set up a new hosting account to get started. To start your new website you must first set up or activate your hosting account with the hosting manager. Before you set up your hosting account, make sure you have purchased a domain name for the account as well. You will also need the IP address to point to your new domain name. Here is a step-by-step process that'll help you get your hosting package up and running.
The necessary steps
- Log on to WHM (Web Host Manager).
- Next click on the "Account Functions" link.
- Then click the "Create a New Account" link.
- This is the heart of WHM. It's the screen where you can create new hosting accounts in real time. There are several functions here that you can set options for. The limits you set here will define how many resources the account has access to.
- First, enter the domain name that will be used for this new account.
- Now enter a password for the account, after which a username will be created automatically, which you can edit later.
- Scroll down.
- You can now fill in values for all the options, or to speed up the process you can choose a predefined account package that will fill in many of the options automatically.
- Open the package drop down menu.
- Choose the package that best suits your needs and see how all the values are filled in automatically. Keep in mind that these can all be edited individually later.
- Once you have filled in all the fields the way you like, scroll down.
- Click the "Create" button and that is it.
- A new cPanel control panel has now been set up for the account.
- You can now send this information to the person who will be using the account. They will need to know the username, password, and IP address, as well as the nameservers.
- The person who uses the account can now log into the cPanel to access this new account using the username and password that was assigned, but this person will have to use the IP address method rather than the domain name method since the domain name will not work until its nameservers have been changed.
- Next take a look at the accounts in the reseller plan.
- Click the "List Accounts" link.
- You should now be able to see the new account that was just created.
