Becoming Familiar and Navigating Around in Plesk
Plesk is a popular web hosting software program that provides a handy interface for web site managers to access and control their vital files. It can seem a little confusing and a little bit alien if you haven't used similar software in the past. The basic interface is much like many other windows-style program, but like any, it takes a little getting used to in order to feel like you know exactly what you are doing. There are some basic things you can learn to make it a lot easier. This video tutorial should help you get to know the basic ins and outs of how to do manage things like basic files, data usage, traffic controls and other goodies.
Steps to navigating around Plesk
- Make sure you are already logged in to your Plesk account
- While you explore you can get back to the login splash page by clicking on "Home" on the left hand side.
- Click on the '"Desktop" link, which is a feature found in newer versions of Plesk
- Scroll right
- Scroll down, have a look around
- The desktop displays the files, traffic, and data use etc.
- Scroll down
- The "Favorites" section is populated with your most recently and frequently used applications
- Click on "Home"
- There are many tools here, placed into groups
- To manage domains, click on the "Domains" icon
- Click on "Services" to get email and dns information
- Scroll down
- Click on "Hosting" to manage the subdomains
- Scroll down
- You can view specific profile info for the site here
- Click on the "Sessions" link on left
- Session management area allows you to see who else is logged in
- Click FTP session link
- Click "Home"
- Those are the main areas you'll use in Plesk
