An Introduction to Using Fantastico

Fantastico is a great tool that is basically an add-on to your basic cPanel interface. The Fantastico program allows you to install a wide variety of database assets with just a few clicks. Fantastico builds this ability to download and delete a whole host of programs right inside of cPanel.

How to Use Fantastico

  1. Make sure you are logged in to your cPanel account
  2. Scroll down
  3. Click on the "Fantastico" icon
  4. It will take you to the Fantastico main page where you can access what you need
  5. All of the programs that are available are listed on the left side of the page
  6. Scroll down to see more programs, it's a long list
  7. Return to the top
  8. Remember that you need at least one MySQL database available for every program you wish to use via Fantastico
  9. So, be sure you need it because many hosts don't provide more than one, maybe two, MySQL database accounts
  10. To install a program, click on one of them
  11. It will show you the homepage for the program
  12. Scroll down
  13. To install the program on your account, click "New Install" link
  14. Enter the directory name where you want the program to be installed
  15. Scroll down
  16. Enter an administrator user name
  17. Enter an administrator password
  18. Enter a nickname for use in the program in the box provided
  19. Click on the "Install" button
  20. A summary of the program installation will then be displayed
  21. You can have that new program installation information sent to your email by entering your address in the box provided
  22. Click on the "Fantastico Home" link
  23. You can also delete or remove programs from within the Fantastico homepage
  24. Remember you need one mySQL for each program installed
