Arvixe is a cheap web host with a lot positive reviews from its customers and it was well about time that I tried to find out why this was. Would I also have a positive experience with or were my expectations set too high? For this test chose the Personal Class hosting plan.

Value for Money

The Personal Class plan starts at $4 per month (24 month plan) which is somewhat of a standard fee in the shared hosting segment. Add $2/month if you want a dedicated IP address, $5/month for a Shared Servlet/Tomcat/JSP and $10/month if you want a Private Servlet/Tomcat/JSP.  A free domain for life is included in all their plans. The plan includes everything I will ever need to manage and setup my website so I think it’s fair to say that you’ll surely get bang for your buck with Arvixe.

Performance & Reliability

First of all, Arvixe claim to have 99.9% uptime and when I checked this up I realized that they’re even better than what they say as the overall uptime is around 99.943%. Not bad at all. Add a 60 day money back guarantee to this and it’s easy to understand that they believe in their hosting and I can’t see a reason to not do so. Arvixe gets a top score from me in regards to performance and reliability.

Support

To test the support team in regards to response time and knowledge I used the live chat function. I had three questions prepared – one easy, one medium and one difficult question. I can honestly say that this is one of the most professional support teams I’ve ever encountered. Within less than two minutes I had gotten all the info I wanted, plus some more as I even had time to a follow up question. Big plus to Arvixe for their top support!

Ease of Use

If you’ve ever had a shared hosting account before you will probably recognize the control panel as they’re often quite similar. It’s easy to use, finding things won’t be a problem and even if you haven’t worked with this kind of control panel before you will understand what to in no time at all. There are also several great tutorials you can use if you need a little extra help. All in all I would say that Arvixe is a very user-friendly host. Getting lost in the control panel, for example, is as good as impossible.
