The update brings a plethora of changes which have been cooked in the past few months. The version 3.0 of Wordpress was released in June last year. Amongst the most anticipated new features is the redesigned linking workflow, easy to use admin bar and a user friendly and streamlined writing interface which can be reversed in case one finds it repulsive.
The update also brings a refreshing blue admin scheme that can be selected from the personal settings menu, suited for those liking customizations. Besides the blue admin theme and a few minor tweaks in the interface that gives it a cleaner look, the overall effect is the same.
The developers can now take advantage of features such as the support for ‘Post Formats’ that would enable them to make Tumblr like tumblelogs for theme customizations based on post types. Users can now designate a post to be aside, link, video, image, quote, status, audio, chat or gallery that will enable different views for the theme.
Some of the notable advanced features are the ability to archive pages for custom content types for the new CMS engine, support for custom field queries and advanced taxonomy, a new network admin capability and the up gradation of the import and export systems.
See the version 3.1 changelog of the list of all the features.
