Some people claim to make a fortune from Reseller Web Hosting without any effort. Even though this sounds good I for one don’t believe it. Of course, there’s money to be made but just because you’ve invested money in the web hosting business it doesn’t equal that you’ll see any return on it.
“Get rich quick” schemes are nothing but just schemes but if you invest some time and effort on marketing and run your Reseller Web Hosting business the correct way the chances are there. With this blogpost I would like to terminate two myths about Reseller Web Hosting.
The first one that I wish to terminate is the myth that one doesn’t have to have any knowledge about the hardware. It simply isn’t correct – understanding the hardware is a must if one wishes to be really successful. If you don’t have this knowledge you won’t be able to provide your clients with quality web hosting services.
Thanks David! I have discussed this with some of my friends that really think it’s that easy. Most hosting campanies promote their reseller packages as something that was sent from God, i couldn’t disagree more. I also think that the hosting companies own brands could get hurt if they continue this way. However, I think that reseller web hosting is good for web designers and Internet consultants. Those that it was initially invented for.
Nice post,is a very complicated theme of discussion. I this the best way is to make a good marketing off you reseller plan. With a good marketing there can be a good profit.
I agree on Jamies statement, the reseller-package are a good thing for designers and stuff, not really an option for a “Hosting Company”…..
Perhaps you can comment on those who earned free reseller plan or through other methods without spending money and how they managed to earn dollars from it.
I have a friend who received a reseller plan of 50GB space and 500GB bandwidth and he managed to get people hosting with him.

Here is my take on it – If the reseller is serious about the business, then he/she will probably be successful. Obviously the person will eventually have to move off the reseller plan to either a vps or dedicated server, but the reseller plan is a great starting point in my opinion. A cheaper way to build up your business before you jump into a $200/m server bill.
