Oracle Database Management System!

Oracle is one of the world's leading software developing enterprises worth over 11 billion dollars. Although their database editions are primarily offered to businesses of all different sizes, Oracle databases can be found and supported by many web hosts as well. Like MySQL, Oracle has developed database solutions for website owners that will manage basic as well as more advanced needs. Though web hosting plans offering oracle database services might cost a bit more.

Expensive Price for Extensive Need

Like we mentioned above Oracle's database management system is, compared to MySQL and various others, to be considered the expensive option. For bigger businesses Oracle has filled a money saving purpose as it manages websites with high traffic with flying colors. But for smaller businesses and private individuals their need most likely are filled but leaving them with an empty wallet. Thus, Oracle DBMS is a service developed for the big dogs.

Less Restrictions and Reliance with Open Source

It simply comes down to what your need is? If you are representing a big online business chances are that Oracle has exactly the resources and power to fill your database needs. If that is the case, you should consider getting your own web server and leave the website management to your in-house resources. Furthermore other possibilities should then be considered. How much control your business actually require of its website and its technological structure. Worth mentioning is that Oracle's database management system is not a open source software, thus leaving its users stranded if problems occur or additional features are acquired. They simply have to wait for the next upgraded version to be released.

With an open source based DBMS the software can be modified to suit specific needs. It lies in the hands of the user, not the software developers. PostgreSQL is worth looking in to since their community version is not only free to download and install but also 100 % open to adjust to meet the users need. MySQL is another example of an open source database software.
