Read our interview with HostICan and learn more about their strengths and what they have to say about green hosting.

HostIcan

Denis Motova

What is your name and title?

My name is Denis Motova, I'm the affiliate manager at HostICan.

Could you please give us a brief history of your company?

Sure, I would be glad to. It all started back in 2003, when we where searching for a good hosting provider that we could host a new project on. We tried a few and they always had some sort of issue that caused our site to be on / off all the time.

Having this happen all the time, we decided to start our own hosting company, and we did just that, and here we are today, hosting thousands of customers world wide, in over 120 different countries in the world.

What are your target markets?

Our target markets would be in the Shared hosting market, and the VPS market, due to them both being highly competitive, I believe that we can deliver great results to customers.

What are your strengths?

I would have to say that our biggest asset is our friendly customer support staff, and our reliable network, that we have engineered from the ground up. These two things combined, along with fast servers, allow us to excel in the market.

What makes you different to other hosting companies?

We spend time optimizing our servers, making all the minor tweaks that most hosts totally ignore. Doing this ensures faster servers, and allows greater stability without so many reboots.

For example, on average, our competition reboots their servers two times a week, where as we reboot our servers every 400 - 500 days (if needed).

How do you see the web hosting market changing in the upcoming few years?

The introduction of SaaS (Software as a Service) is very interesting, so this will greatly change the market in the future, where there will be almost like a segmentation of the industry between the enterprise class hosting companies and the entry level hosting companies.

I expect that more revenue will be made from applications that run on a subscription basis, which will be a sight to see.

Where will your company be in 5 years?

You would think that 5 years is a long time. However, I still can't believe that almost half the year is gone in 2008 (last time I checked, I thought it was January still). Time flies when you're working hard.

In the next five years, we hope to have greatly increased our market share in the both the shared and vps markets, and deliver high quality hosting services.

Do you have any interesting changes coming up in the near future?

We always have something going on at HostICan. Constantly innovating and working on how we can continue to deliver high quality hosting products to our customers.

Why should somebody choose your company over another host?

If a customer is looking for high quality hosting, at a reasonable price, we hope that they will consider us. With all the features that we provide, and our uptime, the customer will enjoy their hosting experience.

Is your web hosting "green"?

Yes, we work in a paperless office, where everything is stored electronically, and we work as much as we can with clean and efficient energy generated by nature, such as wind power.

Thank you very much for the interview.

Thank you!
