GoDaddy is One of the Good Guys

Everyone knows of GoDaddy. Perhaps it’s because of their Superbowl ads or the fact that they’re the biggest hosting provider in the world. However, we want to put the spotlight on them since they’re one of the good guys of web hosting.

GoDaddyLogo

One of the biggest advantages with GoDaddy is of course that they are as big as there are – they can put some necessary pressure on the market. Their size also makes them a sure bet if you want to partner up with a host that’ll be around forever. Another thing that is important to mention is that the people working here are friendly and they know what they’re doing. I’ve been in contact with them several times and they’ve always responded to my emails within minutes. So GoDaddy, keep up the good work!

Meet the people behind the company

David Koopman, Chief Technology Officer

- Can you please give a short presentation of yourself

David Koopman (GoDaddy's Chief Technology Officer) is responsible for managing product innovation at Go Daddy. David also works with the Development Team to oversee reliability, productivity and the overall quality of products.

Since joining Go Daddy in 2002 as a developer, David has helped transform the company's Web-based Email product into a multi-million account operation. During his tenure at Go Daddy, David has held several other development positions, including Dedicated/Virtual Dedicated Hosting Team Manager, Technology Architecture Research and Development Team Architect. Prior to joining Go Daddy, David was the technical director of The Web Mark, a medical Internet services company. He has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Missouri State University and is a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP).

When not developing new product ideas at Go Daddy, David enjoys spending time with his family, barbecuing and bowling.

- What sets your company apart from other providers?

Go Daddy is the world's largest provider of Web hosting, domain name registrations and net new SSL Certificates. Go Daddy has more than 54 percent market share of new, active domains and is larger than the next eight closest competitors combined. Go Daddy has everything our customers need to establish, maintain and evolve their online presence.

Go Daddy CEO and Founder Bob Parsons shapes our culture through his "16 Rules for Success in Business and Life in General." Rule number 16 is, "There's always a reason to smile. Find it. After all, you're really lucky just to be alive. Life is short. More and more, I agree with my little brother. He always reminds me: 'We're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time!'" This kind of philosophy permeates throughout the company and is recognized when calling into our unparalleled 24/7 Customer Care Department.

Go Daddy has world-class data centers located in the United States, Europe and Asia.  Customers may select the geographical region for their hosting service.  Go Daddy customers are backed by redundant upstream network providers in addition to power, security and fire protection. All Go Daddy systems are monitored by our 24/7 Network Operations team and protected from threats by our award-winning 24/7 Security Operations team.

Go Daddy also works hard to keep the Internet safe, and has a 24/7 Abuse department that works to address complaints or concerns. Go Daddy is an industry leader in the fight against spam, phishing, fraud and other abuses that threaten the online experience and has a full time presence in Washington D.C. to influence legislation in these areas.

Between the breadth of our product line, world-class 24/7 customer care, top notch international data centers and our great outlook on life, there is no other company out there like Go Daddy.

- Who is your typical customer?

Go Daddy's typical customer is anyone looking to establish an online presence. It doesn't matter if they are a couple getting married, a newborn baby, an online store or a Fortune 500 company. Go Daddy provides a wide range of products and services to meet all of our customers' needs.

- What do you think about the future of web hosting/trends in web hosting?

To move into "the cloud" means to move a service previously managed locally to a service provider, such as Go Daddy. Web hosting is putting your website "in the cloud". Web hosting and email are classic examples of cloud-based services.

Go Daddy has been offering "cloud" services before the term was coined. Go Daddy's "cloud" services range from email and hosting services to site builders, marketing tools, security products and productivity applications. Internet users rely more and more on service providers for all of their online needs, and Go Daddy is committed to meeting this demand.

There is also an increasing level of expectation for excellence in security, performance and ease of use. Go Daddy anticipated this and provides the "next generation" of Web hosting, available now! We have launched a revolutionary new hosting platform called 4th Generation Hosting (4GH). Boasting dynamic defense, traffic and server management, 4GH is easy to use and is priced the same as traditional hosting!

You can find out more about Go Daddy's 4GH Web Hosting here.

- Finally, if you had to pick one song to represent your company - what song would that be?

Eminem - Lose Yourself. I would pick this song because Go Daddy has one shot, and we won't miss our opportunity [to earn your business].

Hi

We considering purchasing a short term rental property in Florida and to be ready to get it up and running on the internet as soon as we close. Is there a step-by-step guide for 'dummies' on how to get started, where to look, what to look for, etc? I'm afraid I don;t even know enough to know what questions to ask or what web products I'll be needing to make this venture successful. Can you provide some tips, some warnings on what to be careful about and/or point me in the right directions?

Thanks so much!

Go Daddy is really bad - I have opened an account with them, for some reason they put me on Singapore while my domain is dot com and is in english, anyway - I asked them to move it to USA - they say they won't do it - I asked if they can have 3rd party to do it and i will pay for the service - same response -- NO ... Well - my advice for you is - stay away from them
