Cool Plugin Giving You System Information

The highly skilled development team here at WebHostingSearch has created a great plugin that we think you will be able to benefit from. But first things first - we have to mention that the plugin is based on a PHPSysInfo script, customizable PHP script that parses and formats information adequately. Now, let us take a look at what you will be able to do with the plugin.

If you only have access to your server via FTP you really won't know all that much about it. The reason for this lack of information is that you don't have admission to the SSH, also known as the terminal, network protocol. Many of the biggest hosting providers are for some reason a bit shady when it comes to some of the numbers and stats that can be useful for their clients to know. We recognize this problem and have therefore created a plugin with which you will be able to see basic info that can help you understand your site and server better.

Compared to other plugins is ours very easy to use since you won't have to insert any code hook function in the, for example, WordPress template. This is because it comes with a widget that allows you to, via the admin interface, add it directly to your website without any codes at all. With the help of the plugin you will be able to see information on your server in the five following categories. See the readme.txt file if you want more information about the use of the plugin.

System vital information

Here you will get to see info on the name of the server, listening IP, distribution name, the uptime of the server and load averages.

Hardware information

See such information as the name of the processors, the CPU (Central Processing Unit) speed, BUS speed, cache size and system BogoMips.

Memory usage

Look at how much memory there is left to use, how much that is used (both in numbers and percentage) and what your total memory is. Important to mention is that it accounts for the physical memory.

Network usage

Check info on the name of your network connection and the size of your received and transferred files.

Mounted filesystems

Get information on percentage used, how much that is free and the total amount of memory on the available disks on the server.

The plugin is very customizable and you will be able to decide for yourself what information to view via its simple administration interface. Either check out all five or just the ones you feel necessary. Please note that this is the first version of this plugin and we improve it as time goes by. If you should encounter any problem with the plugin, or if have any other information concerning the plugin, we would be more than glad to get an email from you telling us what it is that's malfunctioning.

Important Notice - As of May 2009 the plugin has been improved and upgraded by the dev team here at WebHostingSearch. Please feel free to download the new plugin below.

Click to download this plugin (zipped).

You can also check out the plugin using SVN.

This plugins seems to be nice, but... why to use like a public widget?. I cant see the point of giving users these vital data of our system.

It will be much better to make this an admin dashboard widget.

By the way... this is not working under WordPress 2.8 RC1. Options page works, but no widget to choose on widgets page.

This plugin doesn't appear to be compatible with Wordpress MU... any chance of an update to support this?

I'm having major issues with my host provider and tracking down what is causing issues with high cpu usage I know it's php related but my host can only provide me with 6 hourly logs... so I don't knwo when changes are making things better or worse so keep getting suspended! It's really frustrating... help!
